A global award winner has said that Ghanaian companies must be encouraged to give Senior High School students the opportunity to practice project-based field experience towards their career paths.
Emmanuel Gyan Finawah, Founder of Goalpha Intern Mentorship Program (GIMP) said this in an interview with AfroNova news team on November 7, 2022 at African University College of Communications (AUCC) during a presentation of a citation to the radio station where internship and training was recently given to five members of GIMP.
Gyan Finawah praised AfroNova Radio for its support.
“Some companies don’t understand what we are trying to do. What we are doing is not just sending them to the companies. Some companies think these students do not have sufficient skills to offer help to the business, but what we are trying to do is to empower them into doing what they want to become”, he said.
According to Gyan, many of our youth do not know the type of career or job they wish to enter into.
“It was quite difficult looking at some people in high schools in Ghana – around 17 to 21 years old – and they still don’t know what they want to do with their lives. We realized that, one thing that is lacking in our institutions is practical learning”.
And so GIMP was set up four years ago to provide practical learning, career mentorship and guidance to junior and senior high school students. GIMP aims to give students the opportunity to explore various fields of work to help them decide their future career with ease.
GIMP is self-funded and requires the support of companies to help enroll and empower SHS students.

To reduce corruption, corrupt authorities must be accountable , where there effective low enforcement to ensure the corrupt authorities are punished and break the cycle of impunity, or freedom from punishment or loss and the judiciary must be independent. improving financial management and strengthening the role of auditing agencies would promote transparency in disclosure of budget and prevent misappropriation and waste.
