Accra. November 14, 2022: Member of Parliament for Bortiano Ngleshie Amanfrom, Sylvester Tetteh says the road between Ngleshie Amanfrom and Kasoa must be immediately constructed to avert a national security threat. He said only 2.5 of the 6.5 kilometre stretch has been contracted.

The former Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority acknowledged that the youth of his constituency remained calm, but immediate intervention was needed to keep things peaceful.

The MP who is a member of the ruling NPP has therefore declared his constituency roads “a national security threat which needs government’s immediate intervention”.

“Infact, to say the roads are bad is an understatement. You can’t call it a road. Three months ago, the Road Minister came here just to spend one hour, but he spent four hours in assessing the bad nature of the road,” he explained.

Sly Tetteh said these in an interview on Joy News AM show on November 14, 2022.

According to him, sand and silt from the Red Top, a suburb of Kasoa, wash onto the main roads when it rains. He added that, he sometimes has to use his personally finances to de-silt the main roads from Kasoa.

“The last time we did it, 96 trips of 20 cubic trucks were carted from the road. When you go to Adanseman, that is where most of the sand and silt you see on the roads come from and the mountains around Asamoah Gyan area to the toll booth area,” he said.

Meanwhile, residents of Ngleshie Amanfrom have warned that there will be no voter turnout if government continues to refuse to fix the road immediately. They said their children always have to stay home when it rains.

Some drivers also said that there are times that they have had to leave their vehicles somewhere else and walk home when it rains.

The residents and drivers say they are pleading with the government for immediate intervention.
