Twin Brothers Posing as Police Officers Open Fire on Businessman in Kwabenya Construction Dispute

Accra, October 11, 2023 – In a shocking turn of events, twin brothers, Alhassan Mohammed and Fuseini Mohammed, who posed as police officers from the Interpol Unit at CID Headquarters, opened fire on a businessman in Kwabenya, Accra. The incident occurred during a dispute over a construction project, leaving one of the accused injured and both facing serious charges.

The complainant in the case is Mr. Adu Ofosu, a 50-year-old businessman from Kwabenya, who deals in building materials. On September 30, 2023, he was contracted by Mr. Sedem Abada to supply materials to a construction site on the Kwabenya-Berekuso road. During his time at the site, a group of armed men arrived, claiming to have been hired to halt all work and demolish the erected fence wall. These individuals were identified as Nathan Kwao (alias Chingi), Chris Orlando, and Ato Agyekum Boahen.

After a confrontation with the unidentified group, they left the scene without further incident. Subsequently, Mr. Ofosu and Mr. Eden Abada reported the incident to the Taifa police. However, on their way back to the construction site from the police station, they received a phone call that would take the situation from bad to worse.

The call stated that Alhassan Mohammed and Fuseini Mohammed had arrived at the site, posing as police officers from the Interpol Unit at CID Headquarters. Upon their arrival, Mr. Ofosu requested to see their identification cards. Upon inspection, it was discovered that Fuseini Mohammed’s ID card bore the inscription “CPS” instead of a police ID, raising suspicion.

Mr. Ofosu and witnesses attempted to apprehend Fuseini Mohammed for impersonation, but the situation escalated when Alhassan Mohammed, wearing a hoodie and armed with a pistol, emerged and fired at Mr. Ofosu. Fortunately, the shot missed its target but hit Fuseini Mohammed in the right thigh.

Alhassan Mohammed was subdued and disarmed by Mr. Ofosu and the workers at the site. He was subsequently arrested and taken to the Taifa Police Station. During questioning, the accused admitted to their actions, revealing that they had been hired by Chingi from Tabora Race Course to protect his land in Kwabenya. They were provided with a loaded Carl Walther ulm/do pistol for the operation and were driven to the site in Chingi’s white Audi salon car before transferring to a white Mercedes Benz salon car driven by another individual.

The accidental discharge of the firearm resulted in Mohammed Fuseini’s injury. This case has now been brought before the Kwabenya Circuit Court, presided over by Her Worship Maxima Bedzra, with Chief Inspector Mabel Atsu serving as the prosecutor.
