AUCC communications students benefit from digital film course

Students of the African University College of Communication (AUCC) have expressed satisfaction after going through a three-week course in digital documentary filmmaking, DFS. The course was jointly offered by DW Academy, AUCC and YMCA Ghana.

The course was taught by professionals in screen writing and the video documentary. in all, 30 students benefited from the DFS. It was aimed at introducing students to writing scripts on their own and bringing it to life by making film out of the script.

Speaking at the Ama Ata Aidoo Centre for Creative writing, the students who were mainly level 400 journalism and visual communication students said both courses – Screen writing and video documentary – have had great impact on them and have made them acquire new skills which can help them in their project work.

“I knew nothing about video documentary, but this DFS project has helped me to know how to do that now,” one said.

The students ended the project by shooting short films such as “The bully bullied” and “The waste collector”.
