A confrontation over a parked ‘pragya’ commercial tricycle yesterday led to one rider slashing another with a cutlass at Dome Crossing in Accra. The assailant, Wale, hastily withdrew from the scene and fled, abandoning his yellow Sonlink tricycle.

The victim, Romulus Anyane-Lah, a 37-year-old commercial tricycle rider, bears the telltale signs of the altercation, with bandages wrapping the fingers of both hands, his palms, and his left thigh.

According to Mr. Anyane-Lah, the incident occurred at 9:00pm on October 23, 2023 at Dome Crossing when he complained to fellow rider Wale about where he parked his tricycle across the pedestrian walkway.

Matters escalated quickly as Wale’s frustration boiled over, leading to a shocking act of violence. Wielding a cutlass, Wale inflicted deep wounds on Mr. Anyane-Lah’s hands, palms, and left thigh.

Amid a gathering crowd and potential reprisals, Wale fled the scene, abandoning his yellow Sonlink tricycle bearing the registration number M-22-GE 6537.

Prompt action from concerned bystanders led to the swift transportation of Mr. Anyane-Lah to the Chrispod Hospital and Diagnostic Center at Paraku Estate for urgent medical attention. Subsequently, the victim proceeded to the Taifa police station to file an official report. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the police issued a medical form to Mr. Anyane-Lah, directing him to obtain endorsement from the hospital where he received treatment.

The police retained the weapon for evidential purposes and impounded the tricycle, which belonged to the fleeing suspect.

A police manhunt is on now for Wale.

An alarming incident occurred yesterday, the 23rd of October 2023, at approximately 5:00 pm in the vicinity of Dome Crossing, according to reports by the Afronowa radio team. The main figure involved was Romulus Anyane-Lah, a 37-year-old commercial car driver, who displayed visible signs of recent physical altercation, with bandages on his hands and left thigh.

Mr. Anyane-Lah recounted a distressing encounter earlier that same day at around 9:00 am, sparked by a dispute with another commercial tricycle rider known as Wale. The conflict stemmed from Wale’s unwise decision to park his tricycle in an inconvenient spot on the road. The situation quickly escalated as Wale, overcome by frustration, resorted to violence, attacking Mr. Anyane-Lah with a cutlass, causing severe injuries to his hands and left thigh.
